    iPod Shuffle Giveaway from Vann’s

Matt Ranta from Vann’s has started a new Vann’s group on Geeks which includes RSS feeds of their top sellers and current coupons/deals. Matt has also given us exclusive access to a special “Garage Sale” page at Vann’s that has even been released to the general public yet. The “Garage Sale” page is updated on a daily basis and includes the lowest prices on one-of-a-kinds, end-of-line or open-box items.

To help grow the group’s membership, Vann’s will be giving away a 1GB iPod Shuffle ($49 value) to a random group member, every time 250 members join the group. This means there will be a giveaway at 250 members, 500 members, 750 members and so on.

How Do You Buy Your Music Online?

There are a plethora of ways to purchase music these days, and many of those are found online. From iTunes to Rhapsody, more people are paying for and downloading their music right in their own homes. I personally don’t use iTunes. I’m more of a Rhapsody fan. I asked some others where they get their music from, and the answers were quite varied.

    Uhm, online… - Mark VandenBerg

With a credit card. Kind of hard to use cash. - Glen Campbell

People buy music? Amazing. I must alert the press! - Link  Email item

What Sound Does Your iPhone Make?

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

Can your iPhone make really cool noises and sounds like mine does? It took me nearly eight minutes of playing with this app before I could talk about it. I’ve been doing it for three days straight. I think Ponzi, Andy AND the dogs are all ready to strangle me. Cosmovox is a fun app for musicians of any caliber, with a far-reaching landscape of space-age sounds to explore.

Cosmovox uses the built-in accelerometer of your iPhone or iPod touch to control a powerful, professional quality synthesizer. As you rotate your iPhone, the pitch of the synthesizer changes...

What Kind of Digital Camera do You Prefer to Buy?

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

I’m not a photographer, but I have owned several different digital cameras. I usually buy a new one every year. I love to play around with taking pictures, and shooting videos. Someone who works with Casio decided to send me the newest model to try out. The Exilim S10 looks really nice, out of the box.

Casio’s EXILIM series was born with the appearance in 2002 of a “wearable card camera”— a digital camera with a very slim form. The new EXILIM Card EX-S10 maintains all of the powerful functionality of the cameras that were later developed...

How Should a College Newspaper Publish on the Web?

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

I graduated high school many years ago, and first got online in 1992. The Internet was there, but not the World Wide Web at that point. I wrote a series of articles for the newspaper at my university about the Internet. Chris wrote me with a question about his college newspaper, and getting it online. Specifically, he is confused about them needing something simple to update with an easy interface. The reason is, they won’t always have a tech guy around. Chris feels that buying their own domain name is just too much for them, and they aren’t happy...

How Do You Share Files Between Computers: Mac, Linux and OS X?

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

Sharing files between two computers is a fairly simple task. But what happens when you need to share files with many computers, that may not all be the same operating system. Or what if the computers are all in different locations? You can do this with ease using Dropbox.

Dropbox is the easiest way to share and store your files online.

  • Works Like You Do. No complicated interfaces to learn. Dropbox runs in the background on your desktop.
  • Easy Sharing. Sharing files with your friends and family is just two clicks away.
  • Worry-Free Syncing. Sync your files...

Have You Turned Your iPhone into a PC or Mac Remote?

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

How many remote controls do you have lying around? I’m sure there are several. Do you have one for your computer… one that can control elements on your screen, much like a mouse would? If you have an iPhone, you certainly do have one. There’s a new App out for $6.00, called the Air Mouse, that will let you turn your iPhone into a remote for Mac OS X… or a PC.

The app features two modes. In the gyro mode, the pointer on the screen is moved using the iPhone’s accelerometer. One needs to press and hold...
